Did you know Kids Bowl Free all summer? I know, kind of late to clue you in now. I had conveniently forgotten about it because we tried a couple times last year and they were times I would rather forget. Me and three kids (one a toddler who had to be strapped to my back) [...]
My kids and I love sushi. Actually I mean we like veggies and cooked things rolled up in rice and seaweed. It just happens we can find that at sushi bars.
We usually make our own though. It’s really not that hard. Earlier this summer I set out to teach a friend of mine and PJ [...]
Set the Stage: PJ and Mia received small Gospels of John while we were visiting Gettysburg this weekend. Let me tell you. It’s quite an experience to be proselytised in 100 degree weather by a guy dressed in Civil War garb. Especially when you already believe. He was giving out free water though.
I’ll admit. I was psyched was PJ chose food as his learning theme for summer. Two words: Edible Projects.
We’ve done some activities that fall more toward the academic side like read The History of Food (Major Inventions Through History) and Food Science (Cool Science) and learn about fractions.
But mostly we’ll be getting our hands dirty. Like yesterday [...]
PJ received the Joshua Award for Leadership, an Excellence in Reading Comprehension Award, and a Fruit of the Spirit: Goodness Award.
Celebratory homemade ice cream was made (and eaten).
We travelled for Memorial Day weekend. Not sure what I was thinking when I suggested it. It turned out traffic was not bad. Go figure. The kids got to eat cup cakes that when put together made a flag. They also hung out with cousins.
When we returned, we hit the ground running with end-of-the-year activities. [...]
There’s a part of me who knows that a little quite a bit of effort on the front end means a much smoother summer and less frustration all around. Having a loose structure and some activities all ready for when the “B” word breaks out keeps me liking my kids and them liking me. That same [...]
We’re always telling our kids not to boast or brag, but at the risk of sounding boastful I have to tell you how proud I am of PJ. He earned $5 for helping Patrick plant upwards of 40 seedlings on Saturday. (sidenote: The $5 was actually a surprise for him. He was just planting out [...]
As our kids get older, it’s fun to watch all the seeds we’ve sown (like compassion, love, empathy, and how to celebrate) grow in the soil of their little big personalities. Mostly unbeknownst to me, my children (especially the older two) spent the better part of the week scheming with my mom to plan a birthday [...]
This is how PJ’s smile has looked for a couple months now.
He was adamant that he wanted to lose this tooth in school because then he would get a special sticker and a tooth necklace. During spring break and every weekend, we were adamant that he was going to swallow it in his sleep if [...]
This blog is a photography-dabbling, veggie-loving, housework-hating, triathlon-trying, grace-needing mom's attempt to capture life as it happens with 3 kids (one adopted from Korea). God's brought me full circle as an adult adoptee also from Korea. We hope you enjoy sharing our journey with us. You can subscribe via email or rss below.
