Mia had her big dance recital debut this past weekend. When PJ tried to explain to her about stage fright (and what to do if it happened), she looked at him like she had not idea what he was talking about. She couldn’t for the life of her understand why you would be scared to be on stage.

This was their actual number. Since this was dress rehearsal, there were some kinks to work out, but performance night was flawless and they didn’t even need cues from the instructors!

Last week was crazy busy with tech rehearsals, stage rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and 2 performances for dance.

We did Annie

and “Dancing Through The Calendar.”

It was so much fun being back this year, but a sharp reminder of how not-so-sharp my brain is after hanging out with 3 kids all day. More than the physical exhaustion was the mental exhaustion of having to remember when to be stage and from what side and all the steps to the dances. My brain was fried by Saturday night!

I told you there would be dance videos in the future…
Since all Mia does is dance and twirl around our house, I couldn’t resist signing her up for a dance class this year. I admit I’m a bit biased towards dancing to begin with, but if you know Mia, you know dancing is in her blood. In fact, she spent her two week Thanksgiving break teaching herself how to hop on one leg because she wasn’t able to do it the first time Miss Melissa asked her to in class. It was totally self-driven and she did actually go from not even being able to stand on one foot to hopping EVERYWHERE on one foot. I thought she walked slowly until she started hopping instead.

Oops…I digress. Anyway, I was able to find a class that coordinated nicely with PJ’s school schedule and location…Tappin Toddlers. They always start with tap shoes for the first half and then do creative movement barefoot for the second half. Here’s the videos of her last class. The first two are tap and the third is creative movement. And your welcome for shrinking the 45 minute class to just under 13 minutes.
