I am blessed to have a family who loves God, loves others, and especially loves kids. Poppop (paternal grandfather) embodied all of those. Recently, a field named in his honor for all his years of service to the Eastwood Recreation Council was re-dedicated to him.
A new accompanying playground, dedicated to another long-time community servant, was also unveiled.
Thanks to questionable weather for the original ceremony date (on which we were out of town), we were able to attend the dedication ceremony.
We expected a small event with just our families, but community leaders all the way up to the County Executive showed up as well as quite the showing from the neighborhood.
The son of the namesake for the playground gave a moving tribute to his dad.
Pops also threw his two cents in.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Pops is like a kid trapped in a 60-something body.
Here’s a shot of all of Poppop’s grandkids and greatgrandkids who could make it to the ribbon cutting.
The rest of the time basically turned into a photo shoot for my nephew. #sorrycanthelpmyself
