Mothers on the Mind

Life is always crazy with us, but somehow, during the past couple weeks, we’ve managed to up the ante. I haven’t had much time to breath let alone put together many cohesive thoughts for the blog. Fortunately, I think I’m going to get my feet back under me this week and weekend. In th meantime, I want to tell you about two projects that have to do with Mother’s Day (which is just around the corner).

First, last fall, I had the privilege to work on a book with an amazing group of women. Technically it’s a devotional for adoptive moms (no matter where you are in the process). Whether you’re usually a fan of devotionals or not (’cause I’m not), this is still worth a read. The solidarity, encouragement, and vulnerability you’ll find is priceless. Not an adoptive family but have a heart for serving adoptive families? This will give you a window into the beautiful, crazy, heart-breaking, joyful, emotionally exhausting journey. Proceeds benefit a wonderful organization, FIT Nicaragua, founded by a friend of ours. This makes a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift for any foster or adoptive mother in your life or any mama with adoption on her heart. For sample weeks and the story on how this all came about, click here.

Second, the Grafted‘s internship program for foster youth is picking up steam. Cafe Tesfa has brought on two interns and we’re looking for more Baltimore area businesses who could train youth and for churches or small groups to adopt them. So, how does Mother’s Day tie in? Cafe Tesfa is hosting a Mother’s Day Tea to raise funds and awareness for the program. Click the image below for more information and to purchase tickets.
