{Classical Conversations} A CC Timeline Book

I’m such a nerd. Both of Leigh Bortins’ books (The Core and The Question) and a set of CC Timeline cards made up the majority of my Christmas loot. Remember this timeline project? I had good intentions and was able to keep it up for the majority of last school year and the beginning of this one. However, the kids didn’t really get it or use it and the bottom cards are being destroyed from hanging within hands’ reach of the kids.

I was tempted to give up the timeline thing all together, but had a brainstorm for one more go of it.

Enter our timeline binders.

I put each set of timeline cards in a binder. Each card is in a sheet protector.

Next, I printed out the copywork sheets* I made for our history sentences and folded them in half for perfect little timeline inserts. I stuck these in the binders behind the appropriate timeline card.

Once I integrate all 3 cycles of history, the kids will have convenient, compact timeline books they can peruse that integrate the timeline and history sentences. I’m hoping it helps my visual (and other) learners to better understand (and appreciate) how all that history fits together.

What do you think? Stay tuned to see if it’s as brilliant as I hope 😉

    • Kristin, We are no longer a CC family (which you can search and read about why if you wan on the blog), so there will not be history sentence sheets for Cycle 1. I suggest checking CC Connected as someone did them last year for me.

  1. Hi there! I am new to CC and still trying to figure this all out. Do you have some sort of list that links the Timeline to each of the History Sentences (particularly the ones for Cycle 2)? Thanks!!!

    • Alicia,
There’s no list that I know of but it’s fairly obvious where each sentence fits since they are meant to dovetail.

  2. I love this idea! I was thinking that there should be an easy way to bring these together for the kids but the wall timeline seemed like a huge investigate in time. This seems so quick and simple. Awesome!

  3. This is such a great idea, Melissa! I already have my timeline cards in binders like yours. Now I can take it a step further. Thank you!
