Blog Hop: Favorite Christmas Tradition

In our family, Christmas wouldn’t be complete without the Annual Grinch Reading.  It’s been going on for over 20 years when my father and his best friend from forever bring their families together to celebrate the birth of our Savior.  Even with college, marriage, and moves, everyone seesm to find their way home on the night of the Grinch Reading.  Before the newest generation of little ears, we would all gather around at ages well above 18 and listen like we couldn’t read it for ourselves.

One year (actually PJ’s first Grinch Reading), we had lent the book out and couldn’t find it when the we sat down for “the reading.”  Since NOT reading was NOT an option, we found an online copy somewhere and printed it out for Dad to read.  Really that was just a formality since we can all recite the story word-for-word after so many years of hearing it.

So sacred has the story become, many of us haven’t even seen the recent* movie.

*recent is relative, of course.

Wonderful! I think I like to adopt that tradition - reading the Christmas story or any story that is related to Christmas. My post was late on this bloghop, but I did post one anyway.

  • I love your tradition! Reading with your children is always great!
