We had the opportunity to host a Korean student last weekend. We’ll call her “Inga” for the sake of privacy. The kids (Mia, especially) loved having her here. We took her to Chick-Fil-A, Hershey’s Chocolate World, Amish country, and out for crabs. I only took a couple pictures. Inga took a lot but she hasn’t [...]

Well, we’ve entered the “dog days of summer” here on the muggy east coast. With that comes summer rains (and thunderstorms).
So what to do when it rains and you can’t go outside? Oh wait…you can go outside (in the absence of thunder/lightening).
Yup, my children can often be found singing splashing (and more recently, swimming) in [...]
This is one of my favorite photos. Maybe because I may never again be able to move the camera at the perfect speed to get the subject so clear on a moving background. This is PJ on the carousel at Knoebels. What…you’ve never been? Never heard of it? Me neither until about 5 years ago. [...]
In lieu of our normal Monday routine, I am asking that you say a special prayer for Stellan. MckMama and Stellan have been in the hospital all weekend. Stellan’s little heart has been in SVT for more than a couple days now. He’s not doing well. You can get updates at MckMama’s Twitter feed.
It has been a week of milestones for us.
Mia had preschool camp at Redeemer all week in the mornings. It’s been a great time to spend quality time with the boys. Monday we ventured out to an outdoor, enclosed roller hockey rink to practice riding bikes. I’ve been working with PJ a couple times here [...]
This deliciously pink dress was a belated birthday present from Nana to Mia. It just screamed, “Take pictures of me!” So I did.
So I’ve mentioned that PJ is the best big brother…ever. Here’s proof. He has more patience with the younger two than me and Patrick combined. Oh, and it’s usually his idea to pull [...]
We decided to visit Colonial Williamsburg on our way home from the Outerbanks. Although a culturally enriching experience, it did not go exactly as planned. I should probably back up and mention that our brakes had been squealing intermittently the entire week. We had considered having them checked while in Duck but decided against it [...]
This week we’ve been reading books by Lois Ehlert such as Color Zoo and talking about shapes. For our project, I cut out lots of shapes out of colored paper and asked my kids to create animals (or creatures) from the cut shapes just like the author did.
We are an average family living on the east coast who just had the privilege of adopting a little boy from Korea. This is our attempt to capture our life as it happens for future reference and for out of town friends and family. We hope you enjoy.
