Monday started with family kayaking off the pier in Duck Town Park. Apparently, Mary got kayaks for Mother’s Day. The adults (read over 16) took turns while the rest of us chased kids down at the not-so-shady park. Patrick also purchased crabbing lines and bait (chicken necks). They caught about 2 dozen crabs but only [...]
We had a smooth trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We’re staying with about 15 other members of Patrick’s extended family in a large 7 bedroom house. His cousin is hosting us for her sons’ high school and college graduations. We arrived, unpacked, thoroughly explored the house, and headed out on the town [...]
Patrick wanted to go hiking on Father’s Day but we had to call it “exploring” to sell the kids. They had a fabulous time. I’ve selected some of my favorite pictures for this post but there are more in our new 2009Summer Album.
We’re a little slow-going these days because (1) Ty falls often [...]
Earlier this year, I found a cool book at the library called Science Through Children’s Literature by J. W. Butzow. I think it’s a great way to explore science and it gave me the backbone for a couple of our summer science projects. Last week, we explored volcanoes. The book we read was the Magic [...]
I don’t know what took me so long to realize this, but on Sunday, as we were “celebrating” Father’s Day, I came to an odd realization that I wish I had realized when I was but a wee lad. Ready for it….. wait…. wait…. ok… here it is……Father’s day is not about celebrating father dearest! [...]
Toilet: To sign ‘potty’ in ASL, you shake the sign for ‘T’ …like ‘toilet.’ I realized a while ago that Ty can pee on demand for a treat (read M&M) so we’ve started the potty (toilet) training journey for the third time. Because of the language delay, we’re using ASL to help Ty communicate when [...]
Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.
I am a mechanical engineer so it was NOT me who let the chicken plop into the BBQ marinade. I would NOT do [...]
Here are promised pictures from last Friday’s adventure to the zoo.
Monday, we had a haircut playdate at our house. I think the count was 4 adults and 9 children present. Yes, it was a little…um…busy around here. I consented to Mia’s first “real” haircut (much to the chagrin of Patrick).
For obvious reasons, adoption and foster care issues are close to our hearts. The Dave Thomas Foundation does awesome things to support the hundreds of thousands of children in America’s foster care system. This weekend, they’re making it really easy to help (Frosties are just the beginning). Click on the image below to find out [...]
Well I debated about using this one or not. However, I will say it revolutionized PJ’s life at age 3, and Mia’s catching on now, too. We also have friends that swear by this so it might be worth sharing. Because summer can be kinda lazy, this has also been helping us keep a routine [...]
This blog is a photography-dabbling, veggie-loving, housework-hating, triathlon-trying, grace-needing mom's attempt to capture life as it happens with 3 kids (one adopted from Korea). God's brought me full circle as an adult adoptee also from Korea. We hope you enjoy sharing our journey with us. You can subscribe via email or rss below.
